Rostrum has launched Episode 2 of Managing Reputational Risk – the podcast that explores crisis communications and reputation management.

The podcast is hosted by Rostrum’s in-house trainer and crisis lead, Grant Bather.

In episode two, Grant is joined by Mark MacGregor. Mark has been involved in communications and UK politics for over 30 years. He was Chief Executive of the Conservative Party, ran the London mayoral campaign for the Conservative candidate, and stood for Parliament three times. In addition, he worked for Philip Morris, the world’s biggest tobacco company. Mark specialises in advising companies and organisations about how best to overcome their reputational and regulatory challenges.

During the discussion, Grant and Mark discuss the benefits of ‘reputational credit’ and look at how corporations (large and small) can learn lessons from politicians. They also examine examples of organisations adapting their business approach – and the impact it has had on their reputation.

This series of podcasts, released monthly, will explore what a crisis is, look at ways to navigate a media storm, and identify the steps that organisations can take to ensure that they are on the front foot should a crisis strike. It will give organisations and individuals the steps they need to take to mitigate, minimise, measure, and monitor reputational events that could impact them.

Future episodes of the podcast include:

  • ‘The Great Resignation’ and how organisations can find and retain talent
  • Data, AI and ethics in reputation management
  • The importance of having a team of media trained spokespeople
  • Reputation management measurement
  • Managing social media during a crisis
