With the announcement of the revamp of our social events going down a storm, what better way to start off the new socials calendar than a trip to Chesterton’s for some sun, fizz, good company and a spot of Polo in the Park.

The three-day event, taking place in the iconic Hurlingham Park, sees thousands of spectators come together to watch some of the world’s best polo teams compete and is heralded as London’s finest summer event. Donning our smartest attire, we attended on Friday – the first day of the event this year – and the first time many of us had seen a polo match live.

Amongst the many jugs of Pimm’s and trips to the Mahiki bar, we had the pleasure of watching Air Europa Team Buenos Aires, EFG Team Zurich and Argentex Team Dubai to name a few. We felt equally thrilled to learn the rules of the game, including spectators being allowed to divot the playing field at half time (note: white heeled sandals are not appropriate footwear to tread in divots).

Before we knew it, it was last orders and the dance tent was winding down, ready to be primed for another day of exciting sportsmanship. We went home armed with our new polo knowledge, slightly sunburnt shoulders and memories of an excellent social.

We are particularly passionate about our sports socials at Rostrum and we’re already looking forward to seeing what the next one has in store! And yes, we did see some members of the Made in Chelsea cast at the match – so keep your eyes peeled to see if we made it as extras in any of the upcoming episodes!
